Following the Training, Participants Will be Able to Meet the Following Objectives:
- Identify special properties of human milk that provide immunoregulatory, anti-infective, and tissue maturation activity.
- Recognize history and physical findings that may have a negative impact on lactation.
- Describe optimal breastfeeding management of common problems including failure to latch, sore nipples, inadequate infant growth, and low milk supply.
- Explain to a mother how to use her breast pump.
CME credits are applied for through the American Academy of Family Physicians.
CERPS are applied for through the International Board of Certified Lactation Educators.
*This training program is beneficial for medical office staff, providers, pharmacists, public health nurses, doulas, midwives, home visitors, WIC peer counselors, nutritionists, LLL Leaders, and health professional students and others who help mothers breastfeed.
